„Grigore Gafencu” Research Cemter has been constantly running research projects on fundamental study subjects bringing new sources, methodologies and interpretations to the attention of academics and the wider public. Aspects regarding the prehistory of habitat and environment, art, crafts, the formation of the Romanian states during the early Middle Ages (according to Romanian chronology), the development of human habitat and cities during the Middle Ages, museology and heritage protection, Romania’s placement in Europe and Romania’s relations with the Baltic and Nordic Countries, with Spain, Italy, France, and United States, Baltic and Nordic history have  been at the core of our scientific endeavours. The Center disposes of two research labs of prehistory and cultural heritage and history of international relations within the Multidisciplinary Scientific and Technological Research Institute. The center is open to international and national cooperation on themes neighboring our expertise.
