Assoc. Prof. Dr. Radu Cârciumaru is heading the Romanian medieval studies line within „Grigore Gafencu” Research Center. He has received a a Ph.D. title from the Valahia University of Târgoviște. He was a member of the organizing committee of the largest international conference in Romania dedicated to the Angevin period, in partnership with the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Romanian Academy. He is doing extensive investigations in the fields of foreign policy of the Romanian states (14th-16th centuries) and the beginings of Romanian statehood. His most recent research project approaches the State Genesis of the East Carpathians teritories.
